Keizoku Spec 2: Series Review

10 Mar

We finally watched the last two episodes of Keizoku Spec 2 after fearing that they would never be subbed, however all we have to say is:

Our jaws are still literally on the ground after finishing the drama. Please, please tell us that there is a second series on its way?

We’ve pimped this drama before but having completed it- we can’t recommend it enough.

We loved the WTF? ending- just perfect. We imagine that many people would be like- huh? Is that how it ends? However for us it summed up the drama brilliantly- It left you wanting more, it was original and so despite being only 40 minutes long it managed to pack in so many shockers- we bow down to you writers- it was great! We were literally on the edge of our seats in utter appreciation of it all.

Okay Satoshi being the big bad of the drama was unexpected to say the least and Ninomae being Toma’s brother- OMG? Genius. Seriously we really thought he was simply a quirky side character but to have him be the mastermind behind everything was an unexpected surprise. Plus we love how the writers built Ninomae as the villain/ nemesis of the drama only to manipulate our feelings in the last minute and actually make us feel for him when he was dying.

Toma has a left hand!!!

The chief lived- thank goodness for that- the drama would not be the same without him.

Sebumi was blind, in a coma, made to lose his memory multiple times, broke his arm AND STILL HE ROCKED. We have so much love for this character, the guy is a legend.

Reasons to tune in:

The writing is consistently brilliant- quirky and so original.

The leads- So compelling- being a mystery naturally there is a lot about them that is vague and the more you watch the more you want to know what makes them tick.

Who doesn’t love an odd OTP? Imagine- screwed up and more screwed up in a room and forced to work together and that’s pretty much what you get with Toma and Sebumi. They are definitely our favourite odd couple of 2011.

The way the drama is directed and the musicality is perfect. The originality of the drama is also helped by the way the drama is filmed and the use of random camera angles/music/ lighting.

Tune in if you’re looking for something different- you won’t be disappointed. It was definitely an unexpected pleasure.

We have so much love for this drama and are so upset that it’s finished. Sob*

How much we liked it: 10/10

How good it is technically: 10/10

Yeah, people died. I really don’t want to be depressed right now. Maybe sometime later when I need to cry. 🙂

It’s so good isn’t it- We really hope that there is another series or at least a movie, that would be amazing!
